Spend time now to save time later
Remember a resume is about the JOB YOU WANT not the jobs you have done. So naturally if you are applying for a position, your resume needs to look like that position.
You need to change which accomplishments you emphasize with every position you apply for. If you do this you will spend a lot less time applying and a lot more time attending interviews.

Tailor your resume for every application
One of the universal laws is the law of the farm as outlined by Stephen R Covey in First Things First. There are no short cuts, if you want the harvest you have to plow, plant the seeds, fertilize etc. You can't skip steps. You need to do the work. Job hunting is no different!
So many job seekers simply apply to as many positions as possible and see what kind of response they get. Not much usually. This can lead to questioning yourself and loss of confidence and motivation. Not good things for the job hunter!
Marketing yourself is the same as marketing any product, you need to convince the buyer that you offer the solution they need. In the same way that every marketing campaign is tailored to a product and target audience, you need to tailor your marketing to every single position you apply for. Book an appointment to see your KEYS counsellor for important tips on marketing yourself.

References
Remember to contact your references to give them a heads-up to expect a call. It is a good idea to send them your latest resume/cover letter and even the job posting you are applying to, so they may be better prepared to answer any questions.
Note: when was the last time you spoke to your references? Are they still willing to be a reference? Do you have their current contact information? People don’t enjoy being taken for granted and if you haven’t spoken to someone for years, don’t assume they will act as a reference.
Remember, your references are your greatest boosters. These are 3 people (or more) who think highly of you and your capabilities and are willing to sing your praises. Have you told them you’re looking for work? Take them out for a coffee; you never know where their networks might lead you.
