Job Description:

Camp Counselors - Land and Waterfront provide direct supervision of campers. They play a vital
role in developing a positive, safe, and enriching camp experience for every camper. Counselors are
the primary link between the campers, head counselors and program staff. Waterfront counselors will
assist with swimming lessons, life guard duties and the canoe program. The Diocese of Ontario

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in child and youth work
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in residential camps
  • Displays a strong and genuine interest in working with children/youth in a camp setting
  • Ability to identify and assess risk and implement strategies which minimize risk to campers and staff members
  • Knowledge of and adherence to privacy legislation and policies within the Diocese related to confidentiality of camper/staff information
  • Strong problem solving, conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Demonstrates ability to work with a broad cross section of people and experiences
  • Ability to communicate and work with groups and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff.
  • Outgoing personality who is willing to actively participate in all facets of camp
  • High energy, candidates should be prepared for an active job and have a passion for being outside
  • Should be able to work in an outdoor environment for long periods of time
