At Forman Farms in Seeley's Bay, Ontario, we are growing fresh, nutritious food that you and your family can rely on. We operate a hydroponic tomato greenhouse, and grow about 40acres of fruits and vegetables. Some of the crops include, sweet corn, garlic, pumpkins and squash, raspberries, blueberries, asparagus, and a large assortment of field vegetables. Our produce is delivered to local restaurants, grocery stores, the Kingston Farmers' Market, our roadside stand and we have CSA boxes(community supported agriculture, a weekly box of veggies/fruits).During the spring, we have a garden center with flowers, and veggies for your garden. We also have classes where people come and create masterpieces for their homes(spring, fall and winter classes.

The market vendor position will involve loading the van with market supplies and produce from the farm, driving to market location and setting up the tent, crates of fruit/vegetables, boxes, display stands, signs and produce in a fast and organized fashion. Greeting customers and onlookers as they walk by, being helpful and answering customer questions, packing the produce that customer buy, keeping accurate record when needed(for CSA customers, daily totals) and be able to give correct change. Re-stock the produce. At end of day, pack up area, return to farm and store items in appropriate areas. We are looking for someone with excellent oral communication skills, eager to interact with the public and keep customers informed about our farm.
Fast-paced environment at times, extended periods of standing, handling heavy loads(50lbs, crates), physically demanding, quick at counting money and figuring correct change amounts, work long hours outdoors (hot and cold weather).
Timely, fast and effective work ethic, excellent oral communication, reliability, organized, effective interpersonal skills, ability to provide good customer service, attention to details, able to work with minimal supervision, common knowledge about fruit and vegetables.
To be eligible, students must
-be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
-have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;
-be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection
has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act2 for the
duration of the employment;
-have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and
be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial
or territorial legislation and regulations.
