KEYS delivers a wide range of programs in serving our clients. These programs are supported by various levels of Government including:

The following programs are currently delivered by KEYS:

Apprenticeship Signing Bonus and Scholarship Grants (Young Adults, Employers) -. Apprentices may be eligible for Apprenticeship Grants (Apprenticeship Incentive Grant and Apprenticeship Completion Grant).  Employers can benefit from taking on an apprentice. In addition to having a dedicated employee and investing in training skilled people; there could also be financial incentives; such as Employer Signing Bonus and Apprenticeship Training Tax Credit. Employment Service – a comprehensive suite of employment services for all job seekers. A fully staffed Employment Resource Centre, skilled Employment Advisors and a Job Matching and Placement service are all available to assist connect job seekers with employment opportunities and training options.

Job Search Workshop for New Immigrants (JSW) is a pre-employment program designed to help eligible newcomers learn the essentials of job searching in Canada. CLICK HERE.

LINC: Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (New Immigrants) - The LINC Program offers FREE English classes to Permanent Residents and Convention Refugees.
Bus tickets are provided to eligible students. Classes run Monday to Friday. Morning,afternoon or evening classes available. Courses focus on listening, speaking, reading, writing, test preparation and workplace preparation. Additional information about LINC programs in Kingston: LINC in Kingston

Opportunities Fund (Persons with Disabilities) – This program is offered by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada to help persons with disabilities prepare for, obtain and keep employment.

Passport to Prosperity (Students and Employers) - a province-wide initiative to increase employer participation in co-operative education and other work experiences for students in Grades 7 to 12. These work-related experiences offer students the opportunity to explore career options and to develop workplace skills and experience. Passport to Prosperity activities include supporting co-operative education; organizing career fairs and workplace visits and delivering workshops on a variety of career-related topics.

In addition we now have the Employer Registry; a new way for employers, schools, students and teachers to connect. The Employer Registry is a free on-line data base that is managed by your local Passport to Prosperity Coordinator, to see what the Employer Registry has to offer please visit www.employerregistry.ca or watch the introductory video on Youtube.

Practice Firm offers participants work in real departments of a simulated business environment. Catalogues of products and services are marketed to other Practice Firms, which buy and sell from each other and earn virtual profits. Everything is identical to a real business, except there is no actual product or exchange of real funds. Practice Firms help unemployed individuals gain meaningful employment by providing them the opportunity to apply and update their skills and knowledge in either or both official languages. Participants devote 20% of their time to active job search activities, while they are obtaining work experience and current references. For more information, see the CPFN videos here:

Professional Mentoring Partnership – KEYS offers 3 different mentoring opportunities to fit the availability and interests of immigrant and volunteer participants: Professional Mentoring, The Connector Program, and Career Speed Networking Session. For more information, click here.

Second Career – This is a program offered by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU) to help laid off workers access skills training and financial support so they can find high demand occupations in Ontario. For more information, click here.

Skills Link Programs provide funding for organizations to help youth (15-30) facing barriers to employment develop the broad range of skills, knowledge, and work experience they need to participate and succeed in the job market. KEYS delivers these programs in a number of locations. One of our programs is called SHINE and it consists of pre-employment training, followed by a supported work placement. Participants get paid for attendance and have fun while they learn. We deliver information sessions to recruit for these programs, so keep checking the KEYS website for our next session.

Summer Jobs Service (Students) - The Ontario Government sponsors this wage subsidy program as an incentive for employers to hire students. You can register through the KEYS web site from February to August. For more information, click here.

Summer Jobs for Youth (Students) - The Summer Jobs for Youth Program runs from July to August. Participants can work 20-35 hours per week for 6-7 weeks and receive minimum wage. If you are between 15 and 18, living in Kingston or Frontenac County and are not currently employed, the SJFY program may be for you.

TIOW: Targeted Initiative for Older Workers – This program aims to improve the employability of participants from 55 to 64 years of age, and may assist them through activities such as prior learning assessment, skills upgrading, and experience in new fields of work. Volunteer Initiative Program (Students) - Be a VIP for the summer! This exciting program is offered in two sessions in July and August. It gives younger students an opportunity to develop a resume, gain self-awareness, explore career options and gain 2-weeks volunteer experience. These hours can be counted towards the Community Service requirement for high school graduation AND can often lead to employment for the following summer. Wage Subsidies and Training Incentives (Employers) – Depending on the eligibility of your employee, there are Government programs to help employers with financial incentives.
