InSight Youth Mentoring Partnership
'The best thing you can do for yourself is to find a mentor,' Kam Phillips (Former Youth Mentee).
The InSight Youth Mentorship Partnership is focused on assisting youth to learn about the world of work, potential career paths and the skills they will need to successfully transition from high school to employment, post-secondary education, apprenticeship, or further training.
Get a Mentor
Are you a young person in need of a caring adult to guide you through your academic and career pathways?
Eligible participants are between the ages of 16 and 24, with priority given to students in grades 11 & 12 who need a mentor to support them in making career decisions.
Click here to apply to get a mentor or if you are applying on behalf of a youth.
Become a Mentor
KEYS offers 3 different mentoring opportunities to fit the availability and interest of volunteer mentors and youth.
One-to-one Mentoring
Positive professional role models share their expertise and experience one-to-one with a youth, over a 5 month period for an average of 1-2 hours per week. Training and continuous support will be provided by KEYS staff. Click here for a full Mentor Role Description.
Quick Connect
Established professionals or mature post-secondary students help to expand a young person's exposure to the world of work by committing to one face-to-face meeting, facilitating a tour of their workplace and explaining the career path related to their field of work.
Group Mentoring Events
Presentations will serve to expose young people to the job market, occupation-specific information, career options, and tools for success. Mentors will connect with small groups of young people, with an adult-to-youth ratio no greater than one to four during 2-hour sessions.
Click here to apply for any of the above opportunities.
Become a Community Partner
Community partners can support the implementation of InSight in various ways:
- Disseminate program information with partners, youth and families
- Refer Mentors and Mentees
- Provide meeting space (1-2 hours per week)
- Host worksite tours, job shadowing or internship opportunities
- Make a charitable donation
